Buyer Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before purchasing on Built Bezel. By completing a purchase you agree to be bound by them.
1. About Built Bezel
Built Bezel (“we”, “us”, “the platform”) operates as an online marketplace connecting private sellers of pre-owned watches with buyers. We are not a party to the sale contract between buyer and seller; that contract is formed directly between you and the seller.
We facilitate secure payments through our payment partner Stripe to protect buyers and sellers during a transaction.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and resident in the United Kingdom to purchase on Built Bezel. By creating an account you confirm you meet these requirements.
3. How Purchases Work
- When you click “Buy now”, you are making a binding offer to purchase the item at the listed price.
- All payments are made online through Stripe. Built Bezel never accepts cash, and we do not facilitate bank transfers, cryptocurrency or any off-platform payment. Paying or being asked to pay outside Stripe voids all buyer protection and should be reported to us immediately.
- Payment is collected immediately by Stripe and held securely through our payment partner Stripe and released in accordance with our transaction process.
- The seller is notified and must ship within their stated dispatch time.
- Once you receive the item and are satisfied, you confirm receipt in your account. This releases payment to the seller.
- Do not confirm receipt unless you have physically received the item and it matches the description.
4. Buyer Protection
Built Bezel holds your payment securely through Stripe until you confirm receipt. If a problem arises:
- Do not confirm receipt if the item has not arrived or is significantly not as described.
- Contact us at contact@builtbezel.com within 48 hours of the delivery date.
- We will investigate and, at our discretion, may issue a full or partial refund.
- Our dispute resolution process is described in our Refunds & Disputes Policy.
If you do not confirm receipt and no dispute is open, payment is released to the seller automatically 14 days after delivery is confirmed by carrier tracking, or — where no tracked delivery has been recorded — 21 days after the seller marks the item as dispatched. This automatic release does not apply where: (a) a dispute is open; or (b) we have received notification of a carrier delay verified by tracking data.
5. Consumer Rights — Important Note
Built Bezel is a marketplace for private individuals selling to other private individuals (C2C). Most sellers on the platform are not “traders” as defined by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
This means the automatic 14-day statutory right to cancel a distance contract may not apply to purchases made from private sellers. Your statutory rights against the platform itself remain unaffected.
If you believe a seller is operating as a trader (i.e. selling as a business), please contact us and we will investigate. Sellers operating as traders are required to declare this status under our terms.
6. Trader Classification for Sellers
Where a seller is classified as a trader under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 or the Consumer Rights Act 2015, additional rights apply to your purchase. Built Bezel will notify you where a seller has declared trader status. If you have reason to believe an undeclared trader is selling on the platform, please report it to contact@builtbezel.com.
7. Authenticity and Verification
Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings. Built Bezel's verification badges indicate that we have reviewed photographs and documentation supplied by the seller. A verification badge reduces the risk of misrepresentation but is not a warranty or guarantee of authenticity, condition, or provenance. You should conduct your own due diligence, particularly on high-value purchases.
If you receive an item that is counterfeit, stolen, or materially misrepresented, contact us immediately. We will freeze funds and cooperate with any relevant law enforcement investigation.
8. Identity Verification
We reserve the right to request identity verification from any buyer at any time. Verification is mandatory for transactions of £5,000 or above and may include: government-issued photo ID, proof of address (dated within 3 months), a selfie with ID, and evidence of source of funds. Failure to provide requested documentation within 5 business days may result in the transaction being suspended or cancelled and funds returned.
This requirement is in place to comply with our anti-money laundering obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017.
9. Anti-Circumvention
You must not attempt to conduct or complete a transaction introduced through Built Bezel outside of the platform in order to avoid fees or platform protections. This includes, but is not limited to: sharing contact details for the purpose of off-platform payment, arranging private bank transfers, or requesting a seller's personal PayPal, Revolut, or similar payment details.
Violation of this clause will result in immediate and permanent account termination and may result in legal action to recover any fees avoided.
10. Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
- Submit fraudulent disputes or chargebacks.
- Harass or threaten sellers.
- Use the platform in connection with any illegal activity.
- Attempt to circumvent the platform (see section 9).
- Create multiple accounts to evade a suspension or ban.
- Scrape, copy, or commercially exploit platform data.
See our Acceptable Use Policy for the full list of prohibited conduct.
11. Platform Fees
A buyer fee of 3% of the item price is added at checkout. This is shown clearly before payment is taken. No hidden charges apply.
Built Bezel is not VAT registered. No VAT is charged on private sales between individuals.
12. Account Termination
We may suspend or permanently terminate your account if you: breach these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, fail identity verification, harass other users, circumvent platform fees, or are subject to a law enforcement request. We will notify you by email unless doing so would compromise a legal investigation.
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Outstanding transactions must be resolved before closure.
13. Force Majeure
Built Bezel is not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, pandemic, cyberattack, failure of third-party payment infrastructure, or actions of government or regulatory authorities. We will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable and take steps to minimise disruption.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Built Bezel's liability to you in connection with any purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that transaction. We are not liable for consequential losses, loss of profit, or indirect damages.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.
15. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you have a complaint we cannot resolve, you may also refer it to the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) or use the Online Dispute Resolution platform provided by the European Commission.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before any material changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance.
