Shipping Policy
Built Bezel operates exclusively within the United Kingdom. This policy sets out our expectations for sellers and what buyers should expect when purchasing on the platform.
1. UK Only
Built Bezel is a UK-only marketplace. All listings must be located within the United Kingdom and all deliveries must be to UK addresses (including Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and the Channel Islands where the carrier supports it). We do not currently support international shipping.
2. Dispatch Times
Sellers must dispatch items within the dispatch window stated on their listing. Standard expectations are:
- 1–3 days: Items should be dispatched within 3 working days of the sale being confirmed.
- 3–5 days: Items should be dispatched within 5 working days.
- 7+ days: Items should be dispatched within the stated timeframe, with a maximum of 14 days.
Sellers must update the tracking number and shipping status in their account within 24 hours of dispatch. Failure to dispatch within the stated window, without contacting the buyer, may result in a seller strike and automatic refund to the buyer.
3. Packaging Standards
All watches must be packaged appropriately for their value and fragility. Minimum requirements:
- The watch must be secured to prevent movement inside the package (bubble wrap, foam inserts, or original box).
- Outer packaging must be a rigid box or padded envelope — plastic bags or envelopes without padding are not acceptable.
- Any original box and papers must be protected separately and not used as the only outer packaging.
- The package must be sealed with tape on all seams.
Sellers who package items inadequately and whose items arrive damaged may be held liable for the cost of damage, at our discretion.
4. Insurance Requirements
Postal insurance is mandatory for all items valued at £500 or above. Sellers must insure items for at least their full listed sale price. This is a condition of selling on Built Bezel.
For items valued under £500, insurance is strongly recommended but not mandatory.
In the event of a loss or damage claim, the seller is responsible for pursuing the claim with the carrier. Built Bezel will assist by providing transaction records where requested.
5. Recommended Carriers
We recommend the following carriers for watch shipments in the UK:
- Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed: Tracked, signed-for, insured up to £2,500 (extendable). Recommended for items up to £2,500.
- DPD: Tracked next-day delivery, insurance available up to £5,000. Recommended for mid-to-high value items.
- Brink's / Malca-Amit / Ferrari Logistics: Specialist high-value carriers. Recommended for items over £10,000.
- FedEx / UPS: Suitable for items where extended insurance is arranged separately.
We strongly advise against using Evri (Hermes) for high-value watches due to their limited insurance coverage and elevated loss rates.
6. Risk of Loss
Risk of loss passes to the buyer at the point of delivery to the buyer's address. Until that point, the seller bears the risk of loss or damage in transit.
If an item is confirmed lost by the carrier:
- The seller must file a carrier claim and provide Built Bezel with the claim reference.
- Built Bezel will hold funds until the carrier investigation is complete (typically 5–15 business days).
- If the carrier confirms loss, the buyer will receive a full refund from the held funds.
- The seller's insurance claim proceeds are separate from the platform refund and are the seller's own matter with the carrier.
7. Tracking and Proof of Postage
All shipments must be sent with a tracked service that provides a tracking number. Sellers must retain:
- Proof of postage (receipt from the carrier).
- Photographs of the packaged item before sealing (strongly recommended).
- Photographs of the item inside the packaging (strongly recommended for high-value items).
These documents are your primary evidence in the event of a chargeback or dispute. We recommend retaining them for at least 90 days after dispatch.
8. Collect in Person
Some sellers offer Collect in person as the delivery method. Where you choose this option, the following applies:
- Payment still runs through Built Bezel. You pay online through Stripe exactly as you would for a posted item, and the funds are held securely until you confirm receipt. You must never pay — and a seller must never accept — cash, bank transfer, or any other off-platform payment. Doing so voids all buyer and seller protection and is prohibited under our Terms and our anti-money-laundering obligations.
- Meet in a safe place. We strongly recommend meeting in a busy, well-lit public location in daylight. Many UK police stations operate Safe Exchange Zones (monitored by CCTV) intended for exactly this kind of handover.
- Inspect before you confirm. Examine the watch fully at handover — model, reference, serial number, condition, and any box and papers — before you confirm receipt in your order. Confirming receipt releases payment to the seller and acknowledges that the item matches the listing.
- If something is wrong, do not confirm receipt. Do not complete the exchange if the watch does not match the listing. Leave the payment held and contact us at contact@builtbezel.com so we can help resolve it.
- For in-person collections, the packaging, carrier, insurance, and risk-of-loss sections above do not apply — risk passes to the buyer at the point they take possession and confirm receipt.
