Seller Verification
Built Bezel's verification system helps buyers assess the trustworthiness of a listing. This page explains what each tier means, what we check, and how to achieve each level.
1. Important Disclaimer
Verification badges indicate that we have reviewed the evidence submitted by the seller at a point in time. A verification badge is not a warranty, guarantee, or certification of authenticity. It reduces the risk of misrepresentation but does not eliminate it. Buyers should conduct their own due diligence, particularly for high-value purchases. If you have any doubt, request additional photographs or documentation before purchasing.
2. Verification Tiers
Unverified
No badge displayed
The default state for all new listings. Seller-provided information only — photos and description have not been independently reviewed.
✓ Photo Verified
Green badge — reviewed by Built Bezel
A member of our team has reviewed photographs submitted by the seller and confirmed they are consistent with the listing description. We check:
- Photographs appear genuine and unedited.
- The watch matches the stated brand, model, and reference number.
- The stated condition is consistent with the photographs.
- Box and papers (if claimed) are visible in the photographs.
This does not mean we have physically inspected the item.
★ Fully Verified
Gold badge — highest trust level
In addition to photo review, the seller has submitted additional documentation that we have reviewed, which may include:
- Original purchase receipt or certificate of authenticity.
- Service records from an authorised watchmaker.
- Insurance valuation certificate.
- Video of the watch (showing movement, serial numbers, and functions).
Full Verification significantly increases buyer confidence. Items at this tier typically sell faster and attract higher offers.
3. How to Request Verification
After publishing a listing, you will be prompted to submit for verification. You can also request it at any time from your listing's detail page.
- Go to your listing and click “Request verification”.
- Upload the required photographs (minimum 8 photos — dial, case, caseback, crown, bracelet/strap, serial number, and any box/papers).
- For Full Verification, also upload supporting documents (purchase receipt, service records, etc.).
- Submit. Our team will review within 3 business days.
- You will receive an email confirming the outcome.
4. Review Timeline
- Photo Verified: Typically reviewed within 1–3 business days.
- Fully Verified: Typically reviewed within 2–5 business days.
- We aim to respond to all verification requests within 5 business days. During high-demand periods, this may extend to 7 business days.
5. Verification Failure
If your verification request is rejected, you will receive an email explaining the reason and, where possible, what you can do to resubmit. Common reasons for rejection include:
- Photographs are blurry, poorly lit, or do not show all required areas.
- The watch shown in photographs does not match the listing description.
- Documents submitted are illegible or appear altered.
- The stated condition does not match the photographic evidence.
You may resubmit at any time after addressing the identified issues. There is no penalty for a rejected submission.
6. Badge Removal
We reserve the right to remove a verification badge if we receive credible evidence that a previously verified item has been misrepresented, or if the listing is substantially edited after verification. Major edits to condition, included accessories, or price may trigger a re-review.
